WE HOLD YOUR STUDENTS ACCOUNTABLE AND ON TRACK FOR GRADUATion

We create everything for you!

No, you do not have to do this alone!

We work with students, parents and Home school education boards in creating and implementing courses that set students up for success.

Developing engaging course content is the most crucial component of a Home school plan; we speak with the students themselves about what interests them, what do they like, what do they dislike. We take all of this information into consideration and develop a plan that will create curiosity and engagement within the student.

If they want to work out of a textbook, that's ok too! We will ensure they have the skills that they need to be successful when writing their diplomas.

Yes! This means that we can support you with creating a plan for success. If you do not want to go for a full high school diploma, we can support that too!

EARNING A HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA

For most jobs in Alberta, a minimum of a high school diploma or a high school equivalency diploma is required.

What does a student need to graduate with a high school diploma?

A student must earn at LEAST 100 credits by taking required courses, plus other courses:

  • English 30-1 or 30-2,
  • Social Studies 30-1 or 30-2,
  • Mathematics 20-1, 20-2 or 20-3,
  • Science 20 or 24 or Biology 20 or Chemistry 20 or Physics 20,
  • Physical Education 10,
  • Career and Life Management (CALM)
  • At least 10 credits in Career and Technologies (CTS), Fine Arts, Second Languages, Physical Education 20/30, RAP courses or Knowledge and Employability courses
  • 10 credits in any 30-level courses in addition to English and Social Studies

post secondary possibilities!

In order to gain a High School Diploma with all of the Grade 12 credentials, students have to write diploma exams at or before the age 19 or write the SAT (Scholastic Achievement Tests). Without a course mark provided by a teacher, the diploma exam mark will stand for 100% of the final course mark and can be presented for post-secondary applications.

Most major universities and colleges across Canada do NOT require a diploma for entrance application. They simply require final marks in 5 Grade 12 core courses.

In self-designed high school program, students and/or parents design courses by naming resources, outlining methods of achievement, and shows evidence of Alberta's Programs of Study outcomes.  A submission of evidence is given to a school principal and/or school authority where a course mark is approved and credit is awarded by that authority.

The school may request a proctored final exam for courses that are not grade 12 diploma exam courses.

These marks and credits are reported on the official high school transcript issued by Alberta Education. They do not appear any different than marks reported by an online course teacher.
