"Homework is our favorite dinner time conversation!" - said no one

Ha!  We both know there is no bonding over homework!

Through our years of working in the classroom, we know from our student's parents that the universal after-school homework struggle is real. It might sound a little like this: 

Parent: How was your day today?

Child: Fine.

Parent: Just fine? Can you give me some detail? 

Child: It was just fine!

Parent: What did you do today? 

Child: Nothing.

Parent: Do you have any homework tonight? 

Child:  (silence) ... I don't know. 

Parent: What subjects?

Child: (silence) ... I don't know. 

And that's the PG version! The prompting and probing.  The teeth-pulling and doing everything to engage your child in constructive conversation about their day, their homework, and any upcoming assignments and tests.  We get it and we want to alleviate the struggle by taking that on for you. 

We want to take the burden of time management, remediation, study skills and self advocacy off of you!  We recognize that every child has unique challenges, so we will use our expertise and experience to tutor, strategize, goal-set, organize, and develop the skills necessary to reach their curricular outcomes without you losing your patience, your mind,  and give you back an hour of your day. 

Homework hour is usually not a bonding exercise.  So let us help you with that so you can enjoy REAL time together.  By supporting your child we are inadvertently supporting you, your family, and everyone's wellbeing. 

Do you crave an hour to yourself for a walk or run, hitting the gym or just decompressing after work? What about making dinner while your child works with us leaving you to concentrate on other things - even if just for one hour a day.  Priceless, we think. 

Parents, you need a village, too! You know your child needs more support but you just don't know where to get started. It is a well-known fact (from personal experience) that kids don't always listen to parents on academic support or have the highest engagement. No offence to your hard work in the academic realm!  We're just better at engaging your child in learning tasks because, well,  this is what we do!
